About Us: United Way Thompson Nicola Cariboo, based in Kamloops BC, is looking for a Marketing Communications Coordinator to join our team. This person will coordinate United Way TNC’s local marketing and communication activities.

Role: To implement and execute the key marketing and communications tasks serving the community outreach, engagement, investment and development teams.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Marketing collateral and materials
    • Create and update marketing materials for our team.
      • Some examples include: documents for our workplace campaigns, signage, design for swag items, event materials, and annual reports.
    • Coordinate advertising for fall campaign including newspaper placements, digital ads and PSAs.
    • Support leadership and all departments with any marketing related projects and deliverables.
    • Maintain relationships with marketing suppliers and coordinate print and collateral orders.
  • Communications
    • Maintain key messages and speaking points for all key stakeholders.
    • Schedule and post regular social media; manage engagement and monitor social media channels.
    • Update and maintain United Way website as well as managing news stories and blog content.
    • Write and deliver United Way’s monthly newsletter.
    • Write and send press releases
    • Support all teams with email communications and digital projects.
    • Photography and video creation for impact stories and local events.
    • Assistance with public relations, announcements and media list maintenance.
  • Branding
    • Maintain United Way branding library and guidelines to ensure integrity on all materials, digital channels and website.


  • Post-secondary diploma or degree from a recognized institution in Business Administration, marketing, communications, or graphic design and/or project management.
  • Experience working in a related position
  • Understanding of and passion for the non-profit, charitable and social services sector at a local, regional and provincial level.
  • Experience working or volunteering for non-profit organisations in a related capacity considered an asset.
  • Project management skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects and timelines.

Core Competencies:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge and skill in desktop publishing or graphic design software. Skills with Adobe applications like Illustrator and InDesign are highly preferable.
  • Knowledge of email marketing software. We use Constant Contact!
  • Knowledge of technical needs for meetings both in-person and virtual.
  • Ability to perform on a targeted timeline.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • High level of professionalism, tact and open-mindedness.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and general computer skills, internet research etc.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Flexibility in hours of work – availability to work regionally, or on evenings and occasional weekends as work demands.
  • Clear criminal record check.
