Last week we had the opportunity to have a Day of Caring® for Children’s Circle Daycare.
Children’s Circle Daycare Society is a community-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing quality early learning and child care services to the families of Kamloops. Children’s Circle Daycare Society was originally created to operate a child care centre close to Royal Inland Hospital for the children of Interior Health employees and they now operate two child care centres close to the hospital and happily accept all children at both of our centres. Their mission is to provide quality childcare services in a healthy and supportive atmosphere by implementing age-appropriate activities and programs for children that will promote their intellectual, physical, emotional and social growth.
Six amazing volunteers from Interior Savings were there for the Day of Caring® with Children’s Circle Daycare. These volunteers have all given back to their community through past Days of Caring and through Interior Savings Day of Difference. This time they spent all day moving gravel, sanding and painting furniture sets for the kids; they painted a kitchen set, chairs, tables and benches in fun bright colours!
Thanks to the volunteers from Interior Savings the kids at Children’s Circle Daycare will have bright new furniture to play with.
With nearly 700 volunteers putting in over 3450 volunteer hours in less than three years, a lot of work, learning, and connecting is getting done at United Way Days of Caring® proudly presented by Home Hardware Kamloops.
The idea is simple. An organization has a project that has been sitting on the backburner like a new fence or a space painted, and a local business has a team of eager volunteers ready to get the job done. But it’s not just about the fence. It’s about building a sense of caring through volunteerism and connecting people with different skills, knowledge, and backgrounds. It’s about team-building and having the chance to learn about the programs available in our community that United Way supports.
