Fulton & Co. Working in the Weeds

Fulton & Co. Working in the Weeds

Yesterday, a group of volunteers from Fulton & Co. participated in a Day of Caring® as a part of the United Way’s Trading Up Program – a program engaging volunteers in helping keep seniors in their homes through support on yard cleanup, yard waste pickup and small home repairs.

These volunteers came out and worked through the rain to tackle this tough Trading Up project for a couple struggling with their health and mobility. They were able to cut down more than two truckloads of five-foot tall weeds and get the yard back into tip-top shape in no time. The difference is amazing! Thanks to these hardworking volunteers, this couple now has much needed access to their own back yard again. They can finally enjoy the summer weather and give their dog more room to run.

With nearly 700 volunteers putting in over 3450 volunteer hours in less than three years, a lot of work, learning, and connecting is getting done at United Way Days of Caring® proudly presented by Home Hardware Kamloops.

The idea is simple. An organization has a project that has been sitting on the backburner like a new fence or a space painted, and a local business has a team of eager volunteers ready to get the job done. But it’s not just about the fence. It’s about building a sense of caring through volunteerism and connecting people with different skills, knowledge, and backgrounds. It’s about team-building and having the chance to learn about the programs available in our community that United Way supports.
