The CAP Team left their red uniforms at home this Monday as the whole team volunteered at ASK Wellness for a Day of Caring®.
ASK Wellness is the AIDS Society of Kamloops. They are dedicated to helping those in need in our community. They serve both the Kamloops and Merritt areas. They provide awareness, education, housing, advocacy, and support related to HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, marginalization, and persons at risk, to help build a stronger community.
It is amazing that ASK Wellness receives so many donations; however they did not have a proper storage area for all of them – until today! All 7 CAP Team members showed up to help build shelving units and organize donations such as bedding, clothing, and hygiene products.
The boys went to work on the building and the girls did the organizing. Early on, we realized that they were able to accomplish more in 3 hours than we expected so we were able to organize the entire room and the pantry as well.
For non-profits, it is so important to have organized donations so that they can be put to the best use as soon as possible. Not only did the CAP Team help ASK Wellness, they helped their entire clientele.
It was great to partner with the CAP team for their first Day of Caring® and we hope to have them back again next year!
This year, our Days of Caring® are sponsored by KGHM Ajax Mine. With their generous donation, we are able to help more organizations in community, get more individuals involved, and create a larger impact within our community.
