Kamloops Therapeutic Riding Association is a non-profit organization in Kamloops that provides therapeutic horseback riding to individuals with disabilities and at-risk youth. This organization has over 70 volunteers help run the association so participants get full assistance and enjoy their time to the fullest while they are out with the horses. KTRA runs various programs to ensure there is a perfect fit for all participants.

On Tuesday, May 12th, the CEO and Regional Managers of BCAA left their offices around the province to come to Kamloops to participate in 2015’s first Day of Caring®. Bright and early, 14 BCAA volunteers arrived at Kamloops Therapeutic Riding Association to become landscapers, carpenters, and painters. Reg and his team, from Thompson Valley DKI, was a huge asset in both the planning and execution of this event. Not only did they bring the supplies, they led the projects!

Over the course of the day, 20 cedar trees were planted and a brand new arena was built and stained. This arena will allow KTRA to double their numbers from 60 participants to 120! Ashley, from KTRA, stated that the work that was completed during the Day of Caring® would have taken them over a year to complete.

Yvette, the Kamloops Service Branch Manager, had such a great day that she plans to partner with KTRA for a second Day of Caring® this year with her local team!

United Way extends a HUGE thank you to BCAA, KTRA, and Thompson Valley DKI for your partnerships! Our Day of Caring® was a success!
