Race for Kids: A great time to change lives!

ON SATURDAY JUNE 2, 2012, Boys and Girls Clubs of Kamloops, in cooperation with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada will launch its first ever National Fundraising Event in the National Organization’s more than 100-year history.Teams of five will compete in a series of challenging checkpoints in a race to the finish line. Checkpoints are designed to engage participants in activities that focus the mind and challenge the body.

We are inviting you and your team to come down to Boys and Girls Club of Kamloops to participate in the inaugural Capital One Race for Kids starting at 3:00 PM. Following the event, a post-race party, Capital One Race for Kids Celebration will take place at the Boys and Girls Club McArthur Island Youth Centre 1515, Island Parkway. The post-race party will have live music, food and beverages, and prizes for the top teams.

Why Participate?

This a great opportunity to get your existing team, family or department at work engaged in a community event and in support of the children, youth and families in your local Boys and Girls Club. Team building activities are a great way to reduce stress and motivate your group.

All the funds raised from this event will go to the Power Start Program at the Boys and Girls Club of Kamloops. The Power Start Program supports families by providing a safe ride to school, opportunities for inclusion with peers, unique creative activities that prepare the body and mind to learn, grooming and a nutritious breakfast and recess snack. Children in the Power Start Program are picked up from their homes starting at 7:00 am by our dedicated volunteers and staff, and then brought to their schools to begin their school readiness routine. Children who take part in this program are selected by school staff and may have challenges in getting to school therefore resulting in a high rate of absenteeism.
