The United for BC Wildfire Recovery Fund – Bringing together the power of many to help those affected by the 2017 BC Wildfires

In response to the unprecedented wildfires in BC, United Way has launched the United for BC Wildfires campaign to raise funds that will address important social needs like finding permanent housing, food assistance, trauma and mental health supports, and rebuilding social infrastructure.

 

With your help United Ways across BC have raised more than $170,000.00 to support the recovery and rebuild of those affected by this provincial state of emergency. 

For residents in BC who have been displaced and or affected by the BC Wildfires, United Way is offering funding to help ensure the immediate needs of families and individuals are met and that there is support available throughout the rebuilding and recovery process.

  1. What is the BC Wildfire Recovery Fund?

    In response to the unprecedented summer of wildfires in BC United Way has launched the United for BC Wildfires campaign to raise funds that will address important social needs like finding permanent housing, food assistance, trauma and mental health supports, and rebuilding social infrastructure.

  1. Why have we established this fund?

    United Way is in a unique position as we have connections within all areas affected through our community partners and positions on collaborative tables throughout the region. With an “ear to the ground” we are able to nimbly respond to the needs as they arise from our funded partners and communities we serve.

  1. How will the funds’ money be distributed?

    All of the United Ways in BC will be coming together in a joint funding table to determine where the funds are invested based on greatest need.
