Volunteer Leadership Development
United Way has a long history of providing support to non profit boards through their Board Walk Program. This learning initiative has recently been revised by UWCC, recognizing the need for building strong organizations.
The topics available for learning and discussion are:
- Roles and Responsibilities of a Board
- Planning and Evaluation
- Risk Management
- Creating and Maintaining an Effective Board Team
- Legal Structures and Board Liability
- Human Resources and Stewardship Responsibility
- Stakeholder Relations and Accountability
- Financial Stewardship of the Board
Board Development is one of the ways United Way builds partnerships to strengthen community capacity. Pictured here are members of the Board of Directors of the Kamloops Adult Learners Society. United Way offers the use of their Board Room and facilitation at no charge to non profit organizations working to provide a service in our communities.
