The BMO team took swift action and scraped off old and peeling paint in order to repaint and refresh the wheelchair ramp as well as the porch and front steps. The volunteers all worked incredibly hard and systematically to have a whole day worth of work completed in just under three hours. They then sprang into action to help complete numerous other tasks that the Children’s Circle needed help in completing.
In addition to completing their initial task, the volunteers moved and spread rock gravel at the front of the property and weeded and planted some vegetables in the gardening strip along the front wall. After that, the BMO team weed wacked the entire property, repainted a few of the kids’ picnic tables, restrung decorative lights, and tidied up the parking area at the back of the property.
We can’t thank the BMO volunteers for all of their hard work, great work ethic and attitude. The Children’s Circle Daycare Society was left looking refreshed and extra lively thanks to you.
With nearly 700 volunteers putting in over 3450 volunteer hours in less than three years, a lot of work, learning, and connecting is getting done at United Way Days of Caring®
The idea is simple. An organization has a project that has been sitting on the backburner like a new fence or a space painted, and a local business has a team of eager volunteers ready to get the job done. But it’s not just about the fence. It’s about building a sense of caring through volunteerism and connecting people with different skills, knowledge, and backgrounds. It’s about team-building and having the chance to learn about the programs available in our community that United Way supports.
